About us

Our Goal:

Community.
Transparency.
Creativity.

These are the three pillars that Westie Club is built on. Brad and Keri have been part of the Chicago West Coast Swing community since 2020, and it didn’t take long before they knew they wanted to play a bigger role in shaping its future.

Community

Our mission is to welcome new dancers and help them fall in love with West Coast Swing. But this isn’t something we can do alone. Westie Club is about growing the community together—by supporting each other, inviting friends of all experience levels, and giving back through guest instructors, giveaways, and themed events. We want to create a space where dancers feel at home and excited to share the joy of dance.

Transparency

We believe trust comes from honesty. That’s why we’re committed to being open about our vision, our successes, and even our struggles. No guessing games, no hidden agendas—just a community you can feel confident being part of.

Creativity

Dance is an art form, and every dancer expresses it in their own way. At Westie Club, we encourage that individuality. Our instructors are free to teach what inspires them, our DJs to share the music they love, and our dancers are invited to express themselves fully on the floor. Creativity is what makes this community vibrant, and we want that spirit to thrive.

Community Guidelines

Westie Club Community Guidelines

Westie Club is built on the idea that social dancing should feel welcoming, respectful, fun, and safe for everyone in the room. West Coast Swing works best when dancers trust each other, communicate clearly, and respect boundaries. By attending Westie Club, you’re agreeing to help us create that kind of environment for every dancer, guest, instructor, volunteer, and staff member.

What We Expect From Our Community

We ask everyone at Westie Club to:

  • Treat others with kindness, respect, and consideration
  • Respect physical and personal boundaries at all times
  • Accept “no,” “not now,” or “I need a break” without pressure or repeated requests
  • Dance in a way that prioritizes safety, consent, and comfort
  • Follow directions from organizers, instructors, DJs, volunteers, staff, and venue personnel
  • Help contribute to a dance floor culture where people feel comfortable, included, and respected

Behavior That Doesn’t Belong at Westie Club

To keep the space safe and welcoming, the following behavior is not acceptable:

  • Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or bullying
  • Unwanted touching or inappropriate physical contact
  • Sexual comments, advances, coercion, or pressure
  • Repeatedly pushing for dances, conversation, or interaction after someone has declined
  • Reckless or forceful dancing that puts others at risk
  • Retaliation against anyone who sets a boundary or raises a concern
  • Disruptive, threatening, or unsafe behavior

Consent and Boundaries Matter

No one is ever owed a dance, physical contact, private instruction, or an explanation for why someone says no. If someone asks for more space, less contact, a different connection, or to stop dancing, that request should be respected right away.

If Something Feels Off

If someone’s behavior makes you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, pressured, or concerned, please let a Westie Club organizer, staff member, or instructor know. Reports can be made in person or privately after the event.

We will do our best to protect the privacy of anyone who comes forward. While we can’t guarantee complete confidentiality in every situation, we may limit what we share in order to protect attendee privacy and reduce the risk of retaliation.

How We Handle Concerns

Our goal is always to protect the safety and wellbeing of the community. Depending on the situation, Westie Club may respond with a conversation, warning, removal from an event, denial of admission, suspension, or a ban from future events.

We may take action based on behavior at an event, event-related interactions, repeated concerns, safety issues, retaliation concerns, or failure to follow organizer directions. We do not need to wait for criminal charges, a police report, or a court finding before taking steps to protect our attendees and our community.

Our Commitment

Westie Club reserves the right to refuse admission, remove an attendee, or deny future attendance when we believe it is necessary to protect the safety, comfort, and integrity of the community.

By attending Westie Club, you agree to these community guidelines and understand that violating them may result in removal from the event or loss of future attendance privileges.
